Join AROPI's Board of Directors

Reclaim. Restore. Rebuild.

The Akron Rites of Passage Institute (AROPI) invites people committed to African-centered growth, cultural continuity, and community well-being to consider serving on its Board of Directors.

AROPI educates, trains, and empowers people through African-centered Rites of Passage. Our work supports the healthy development of individuals, families, and community. We envision a thriving Akron African American village community where families experience safety, healing, self-sufficiency, and liberation across historical, cultural, educational, economic, and spiritual life.

The Role of the Board

The Board of Directors provides governance, strategic direction, and accountability. Members help steward AROPI’s resources, support fundraising and partnerships, and ensure that organizational decisions advance its mission. Board service calls for preparation, thoughtful participation, follow-through, and a willingness to contribute time, skills, and relationships.
